The Nielsen Media team is heading to Cologne, Germany to attend DMEXCO19 in September. DMEXCO has been described as “the most important meeting point for the global digital economy” where thought leaders, influencers, marketing and media pros, techies and creators of the global digital economy come together to share tactics, trends, and strategies. This year, the conference expects more than 41,000 visitors.
It’s an extravaganza of all things digital — great speakers, cool events, sessions galore, and a great chance to speak with folks from all over the world. The team is gearing up for a week of learning and networking.
Here are nine things we’re looking forward to.
1. Supporting Trust and Transparency
DMEXCO's motto this year is "Trust in you.” Trust plays a critical role in the digital economy, both for the industry and individuals. Nielsen is committed to providing trust and transparency to the brands, agencies and publishers who depend on our products and services. I’m committed to supporting that mission and talking about what that means for attendees at the conference.
2. Seeing Our Clients
I’m looking forward to meeting many of our local clients face-to-face for the first time, and having a chance to spend time with folks from other companies around EMEA.
3. Showing Off Our Solutions
DMEXCO is an exciting place to share our planning, activation and measurement solutions, which help marketers get the insights they need to improve results and show the value of their initiatives. Our platforms enable brands and agencies to discover their best-performing marketing based on the people who matter most. To see them in action, visit us in Hall 8, Stand B-19.
4. Learning from the Best
With over 550 speakers on 18 stages with 250 hours of programming, there’s an overwhelming number of choices. I’m sure it will be standing room only for international experts such as Teresa Barreira (Publicis Sapient), Harley Finkelstein (shopify), Walter Jacobs (Twitch), Dave King (Asana), and Sonia Studer (Nestlé).
5. Talking about Marketing Effectiveness
I anticipate there will be a lot of talk at the show about how to manage marketing effectiveness from media planning and activation to data and attribution. We know brands and agencies need speed, precision and coverage to optimize their budgets. Increasingly however, marketers are realizing that who they partner with also plays a big role in the era of walled data gardens and increasing privacy concerns.
6. Seeing Innovation in Action
Having a chance to see what the best brands in the world are doing is pretty inspiring for any marketer. As VP of Transformation & Communication, I’m always on the lookout for the newest strategies and tactics. Among the 1,000+ exhibitors from all over the world are some of the biggest players including Adobe, Facebook, FreeWheel, Hybris, Microsoft, Outbrain, Spotify, Spryker, Taboola, Verizon Media, Xing and many more.
7. Brainstorming About Consumer Behavior
Today’s consumers are more connected and empowered than ever. They expect relevant and coordinated brand experiences across channels and devices—and they will go elsewhere if they don’t get them. To compete in today’s consumer-led world, marketers must not only analyze tactical marketing performance, but also ensure that they have the best audience data. I’m looking forward to brainstorming with marketers about how to deliver more relevant experiences that drive the business KPIs they care about most.
8. Seeing the Future of Digital
On the conference’s Experience Stage, DMEXCO promises we’ll see ground-breaking innovations and learn how the digital world of tomorrow will actually work. I’m looking forward to taking a first look at new technologies in AI, Robotics, Virtual and Augmented Reality and Voice.
9. Visiting the City of Cologne
Cologne is a truly cosmopolitan city, and the hosts of DMEXCO are doing everything they can to ensure conference-goers are going to have a great time. Take a look at the choices in the Cologne Food & Drink guide. I’m not sure how much time we’ll have, but there are many wonderful historic sites and gardens, not to mention the Gothic Cologne Cathedral, Germany’s most visited attraction.
